VIETNAM’S GDP GREW 8.18% IN THE FIRST HALF OF 2026: A POSITIVE SIGNAL, BUT BUSINESSES NEED TO PREPARE MORE CAREFULLY

Vietnam’s economy continued to record strong growth in the first half of 2026, with GDP increasing by 8.18%. In Q2/2026 alone, GDP grew by 8.39%, higher than the 7.63% recorded in the same period of 2025.

This is a positive signal for manufacturing, trade, import-export activities and supply chains. However, for businesses, growth is not only about “having more orders”, but also about preparing the capacity to execute those orders.

Within this growth picture, the industry and construction sector continued to play an important role, growing by 9.86% and contributing 40.35% to overall growth. In particular, the processing and manufacturing sector grew by 10.23%, showing a clear recovery in production activity.

On the trade side, exports of goods and services increased by 20.18%, while imports rose by 26.44%. This reflects stronger demand for raw materials, machinery, components and goods serving production.

For manufacturing businesses, this is both an opportunity and a pressure.
